Composting Workshop
Date: Saturday, November 16, 2024
Location: Garfield Community Farm
Time: 11am - 12:30 pm
Description: Join us for a free workshop facilitated by Russ Thorsen from Pasa Sustainable Agriculture to learn what composting is, what we can and cannot compost, how we compost on the farm, and ways you can compost at home. Composting is nature's way of recycling by turning yard and food waste into a rich soil amendment for plants. Composting can be an easy and low cost way to divert food and yard waste from the landfill to create a rich garden resource! Childcare will be provided!
This workshop is part of Garfield Farm’s Food and Knowledge to the People Project which aims to increase access to fresh produce, teach skills to grow and preserve food, and provide opportunities for people-to-people knowledge sharing and hands-on experience that helps build the confidence to grow culturally relevant and affordable produce. Many thanks to the SWPA United Way Community Food Solutions Grant program for supporting this project!
