Food Preservation Workshop
Date: Saturday, October 12, 2024
Location: Valley View Church located a few minutes from the farm at 601 N Aiken Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15206
Time: 10am - 11:30am
Description: As the growing season wraps up, join us for a free workshop to learn how to preserve your garden abundance. This workshop will be facilitated by Alyssa Creasy who will walk attendees through the steps and key “how-to’s” of commonly preserved foods like tomatoes, apples, and pickled vegetables. We will also briefly talk about freezing/drying as food preservation options. All attendees will receive a free canning/food preservation book or mason jars to support their food preservation journey. Childcare will be provided!
This workshop is part of Garfield Farm’s Food and Knowledge to the People Project which aims to increase access to fresh produce, teach skills to grow and preserve food, and provide opportunities for people-to-people knowledge sharing and hands-on experience that helps build the confidence to grow culturally relevant and affordable produce. Many thanks to the SWPA United Way Community Food Solutions Grant program for supporting this project!
